Happy Birthday!

It's hard to believe it's been a year. I look back at the amazing variety of performers we've had the fortune to sketch and I'm just amazed. Not to mention the regulars hootin' and hollerin' and hecklin', you've made this sketchy journey worthwhile! A big fat kiss to our host Ernie Von Schmaltz, who really puts the sketchy in Dr. Sketchy's. Thank you!

Alright, enough with the acceptance speech. I'm so proud of what came together for our special day: Finally got international performer Mama Lou Strong Woman to pose (I had been trying to book her for the past year!), who also happens to be on a Dr. Sketchy's tour. And as a special treat we brought back our first model from May 2007: Miss Indigo Blue gave us a ravishing performance! Some artists who've never seen burlesque before ended up attending the Burlesque Fundraiser that week because of Miss Indigo Blue's classy act. I promise to give more notice for the fundraiser next year, since it IS the best way to see a large variety of Seattle's burlesque talent all in one night.

And what's a party withouht cake? Handmade by Joey at the Rendezvous, with fresh raspberries. YUM! Here's to another year of sketchiness!

Mama Lou Strong Woman truly is strong...

...and flexible!

Now why didn't anyone think of doing wind posing before?

Oh yes, a moving pose.

The source of her strength.

Posing with tape measure, for the specific artist.

Ernie blows out candles the only way he can, with suave!

Backstage pose. Don't Worry, Mama can handle it.

Miss Indigo Blue is back one year later performing a perfect burlesque strip tease.

Strong and sexy Mama returns.

Artists challenge: Change the weight.

The winner is...

...This guy. "One million pounds"!

What does he choose for her next pose? Wild Card, which happens to be breaking a chopstick in half with her butt cheeks.

But first, the crowd votes for a "Pre-chop" pose.

( and she really did it... )

Mama Lou prepares the stage for her final pose...

Ripping a phonebook in half with her bare hands, Mama Lou sits among phonebook carnage for the last drawing contest:

"Phonebooks. Your Heart. Neither stands a chance."

Strong women need massage too.

Winner of the BIG prize from one of our sponsors: Imagekind.com!
